Chicken wings are a staple at tailgates and football game parties. I wanted something that I could make ahead and not have to go and pick up. The blue cheese makes this dip a little more like the real thing. Since I grew up in Rochester, NY – just around the corner from Buffalo where the “Wing” originated – I had to get as close to the real thing as possible!
1 lb. Chicken tenders (fresh or frozen) (usually about 7 tenders depending on the size)
8 oz Wings sauce (I use Hooters)
12 oz cream cheese
2 oz. crumbled blue cheese
2 c. shredded mozzarella/provolone cheese
Tortilla chips (I prefer “Scoops”)
Place chicken tenders in a microwave dish and cover with plastic wrap. Microwave the chicken tenders until cooked. The time will vary depending on the size and number of your chicken tenders. Shred the chicken tenders with two forks. Put the shredded chicken into a bowl and mix with wing sauce. Set aside.
Spread cream cheese in a layer on the bottom of an 8×8 or 9×9 glass dish. Spread shredded chicken with the wing sauce over the cream cheese. Sprinkle with blue cheese. Cover with the shredded mozzarella/provolone cheese. (If you would like to make this ahead, cover and refrigerate at this point. Remove from the refrigerator about 20 minutes to bring to room temp before cooking.)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cook 20 minutes or until top is bubbling and starting to brown on the edges.
Cool a few minutes before serving. Serve with tortilla chips.
